Inserting a PDF in the AFS (Desktop)

What it is: A feature that allows an externally produced PDF document (such as a signed audit report) to be embedded into the Annual Financial Statements — either replacing a specific report or placed before or after a selected page.

What it's for

Firms sometimes receive a signed PDF version of a report (for example, an independent auditor's report signed outside Draftworx) and need to include it in the final AFS output. Using the Insert/PDF feature ensures that the PDF is counted in the page numbering and appears in the correct position within the document, keeping the Index accurate.

How to do it

Import and position the PDF

  1. First, import the PDF into the client file using the relevant option under Office Tools.
  2. Open the Preview Screen and navigate to Inserts in the Preview Settings pane.
  3. Locate the relevant section of the AFS where you want to place the PDF, then browse to the imported PDF file.
  4. Select the PDF file.
  5. From the drop-down, choose one of three placement options:
    • Prepend — insert the PDF before the selected report/page.
    • Append — insert the PDF after the selected report/page.
    • Replace — substitute the PDF in place of the selected report entirely.
  6. Select Footer if you want an automated page number to appear on the imported PDF.
  7. The PDF is now part of the AFS with the correct page number applied.
